Finally, after months of considering, searching & choosing...we have installed a new light in our dining room. Once you decide to change out a lighting fixture, it really is quite the process!

There are so many great lighting fixtures out there right now. I knew I wanted a geometric shaped fixture with a transitional, soft/worn gold finish to match the two mirrors that are hanging in the space. I have been very lucky finding fixtures for clients through sites like Houzz, Ballard Designs, Restoration Hardware & Lighting Direct. This one came from Wayfair.

I do love my little dining room! I had re-designed the space, adding coffered ceiling, tall baseboards & french doors when we first bought the home. The tough part is, it is definitely on the smaller side & even with adding the coffered ceiling, the ceiling height is not very high. This made finding the perfect lighting fixture that much harder.

I had narrowed it down to a few different fixtures when I came across a post from one of my favorite bloggers, Citrineliving. She had a post about her dining room makeover & when I saw her fixture, I knew I had found the one!

Seven years ago, when we bought our home, we were moving from a very charming & traditional 1920's house. Most of the furniture, artwork & decor had a very traditional feel. We ended up installing a traditional chandelier to flow with the rest of our existing decor. I actually really liked this fixture when we installed it & never actually got to the point of despising it. I just wanted a more transitional feel in our home.

We sure did LOVE having the new, updated fixture at Easter this year πŸ£πŸ’•

On a regular day, I just love that unexpected knock at the front door. My dogs going bizurk, I peek out my front door side light to see my favorite of all delivery trucks..Emily Joubert Home & Garden.

Awww... I love this annual unexpected surprise from the company my husband works at! Every year (for the past 12 years) my husbands job has their annual meeting in February. So basically, from New Year's until the meeting in mid-February, he works ridiculous hours, planning, calculating, reviewing & number crunching. I honestly rarely see him for 6 weeks!

Luckily, he has a really strong team that works the long hours & weekends with him. They are the recipients of these beautiful arrangements, as well.

I do have to admit, there is one downside to receiving these gorgeous flowers. The arrangements from Emily Joubert are so unique & beautiful, that it has set my standards very high for receiving floral arrangements!

Hope your day is as beautiful as this arrangement! 🌷

A dear friend of mine's birthday actually falls on February 14, so this year a few close friends celebrated her birthday a few days early with a fun Valentine's themed birthday luncheon. πŸ’•

I love arranging my dining table with seasonal settings & this one was especially sweet to do!

I have gotten so much use out of these beaded chargers that I found at Homegoods! The beautiful platinum rimmed Lenox china shown is actually my mom's wedding china from 1955, as well as the silver setting shown. I love timeless style!

Champagne holders always add such an elegant touch to a table setting. And of course this one is holding my favorite, Veuve Clicquot.

I always get great compliments on my floral arrangements. The secret? My go-to centerpiece floral supplier is...Safeway & Trader Joe's! $10 for a dozen roses at Safeway, in all colors. You don't need to spend $$$ for something that won't last more than a week.

My friends are composed of some cocktail lovers & a few that prefer the non-leaded. Not a problem with this super easy grapefruit cocktail! Everyone can enjoy this sweet taste of heaven, garnished with simple rosemary from my backyard. It's carbonated grapefruit juice with a splash of vodka. Leave the vodka out for the non-leaded drinkers.

Sweets anyone? Yes!!

The simplicity of conversation hearts are always a table bonus! I found these sweet, heart shaped plates at Homegoods.πŸ’•

The dark chocolate, shortbread cookies with sprinkles from Trader Joe's are devine. You just try to only eat one!πŸ’–

Thanks for stopping by & have a very Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy New Year!

Some continuing & some new, 2017 is sure to be a fantastic year of fabulous interior design trends. Here are a few that Oxford Street Interiors thinks we will see a lot of...

The "It" color of 2017...GREEN:

From light lime to emerald, green is making a statement in stylish homes this year. It can be used in bold applications such as accent walls and wall paper, but also on accent pieces to add a little "Pop" to the room.

Adding texture into an interior via fabric, decorative accents or furniture makes a space much more inviting. Natural textures, such as cork, cane, rattan & woven grasses are great additions and add warmth to a room.

Muted Metal Finishes:

Watch out glitzy metallics...things are becoming a little more subtle! Oxidized metals, matte glazes and neutral colored metals will be making homes more warm & sophisticated.

Upholstered Bed Headboards:

This stylish change from the traditional wood headboard was up & coming in 2016 & will continue to grace many bedrooms this year.
